Comments about the computer exercises.
I thought the excersizes were an excellent mix of computing skill and economic know how. They taught me a lot and allowed me to do what I enjoy, use computers. Also if the homework wasn't able to be finished due to confusion the teacher was very understanding. Actually this surprises me a bit. I thought that I had failed with the exercises - especially in learning economics. I found it very difficult to construct the exercises to give a mix of computing and economics.
I prefered not having any tests. I was able to prove that i know the topics rather than having to memorize them and be tested on them. the only problem was that I had no idea what my grade in the class was. Again MY BAD on not providing feedback during the semester.
Not to bad
I had some difficulty at times, the only problem I found was b/c I didn't have excel, so it made it a bit frustrating for me since I would have to go to a computer lab to do those assignments. However, I liked the Mankiw game and found that a fun way to learn. Not having excel is a problem in this new milenia - used to be that everyone went to the lab. Now, no one wants to go. But there is little way around that except to use a less expensive program such as Quatro Pro and you give up some features.
They were helful in understanding the concepts.
I found them very helpful. As said above, I am really glad I learned how to use all of the programs. Though the exercises were challening sometimes, you always provided good instructions on how to complete them which helped a lot! Good instructions take a lot of time and I experimented a bit with this class, between very terse and very verbose instructions. Seems that verbose is better.
I learned a lot though it, I enjoyed learning about hard-caore economics, with the real information and not just book reading. I think I learned a lot though the second to last homework.
NA
Good exercises.
They were ok. The actual econ learning got suppressed in some due to the simplified directions. The homework should be to figure out the formulas, not how to graph using Excel. Point taken, and this is where I thought I failed. The other comments here indicate to me that you and I agree and the rest of the class thought differently.
Good use of the material...helped reinforce the ideas
Very beneficial GREAT!!!!
